As part of our Information Advice and Guidance Service Enham Trust supports disabled people to employ their own staff. This vacancy is not a role within Enham Trust but an excellent opportunity to work directly for one of our customers.

We are recruiting one or more female and/or male personal assistants for a male service user, living with his wife in the Glenholt area of Plymouth. The employer is looking for personal assistants who are able to support him with personal care and various daily living tasks, social and recreational activities. Duties will include personal care, companionship, meal preparation, giving medication and general household tasks.

The employer is looking for applicants whose qualities include being organised, empathetic, motivated, trustworthy and patient.  Must have a sense of humour, good conversation skills, and be able to provide support whilst understanding when the employer needs some space.  

Hours:

  • Wednesday: 4-10pm
  • Thursday: 6-10pm
  • Friday: 6-10pm
  • Saturday: 3-10pm
  • Sunday: 5-10pm

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Assistance with personal care and dressing
  • General household tasks and meal preparation
  • Support with accessing the community
  • Helping employer to keep his possessions organised
  • Any other reasonable task to allow the service user to live independently

Essential requirements:

  • Patience and good sense of humour
  • Enhanced DBS required. Cost met by employer
  • Legally entitled to work in the U.K.

Desirable requirements:

  • Experience in health & social care (preferably NVQ2 or above in Health and Social Care, or working towards a similar qualification)
  • Knowledge of Parkinsons' Disease
  • Car owner & Driver
