As part of our Information Advice and Guidance Service Enham Trust supports disabled people to employ their own staff. This vacancy is not a role within Enham Trust but an excellent opportunity to work directly for one of our customers.

We are recruiting for Personal Assistants to form a small team of carers to support a gentleman with multiple health conditions in the PL6 area of Plymouth. You will be employed directly by the service user and working in the employers home and the community.

The shifts will vary but you will be required to work weekdays and weekends between 8am and 11pm. Flexibility is essential, however the employer is happy to consider applicants other commitments.  

The employer has stated that an awareness of AD would be essential. He would like to employ staff to be able to remain independent in his own home.


94.5 hours a week to be split between 3 or 4 PA’s


  • Provide personal care assistance to the employer
  • Able to assist with housekeeping and domestic tasks such as cooking and laundry.
  • Support to attend appointments and access the community.
  • Support with communication and organising appointments.
  • Support with administering medication/ prompting with meds.
  • Double ups in the morning to assist with morning routine.
  • Preparation for night time rest.
  • Will be using a hoist

Person specification:

  • Mature attitude with a sense of humour
  • Reliable and excellent time keeping
  • Understanding of confidentiality and trustworthy
  • Able to complete patient handling training
  • Flexibility to cover sickness or holidays at short notice

Essential requirements: 

  • Experience in health and social care or in a similar role
  • Experience in providing personal care
  • Enhanced DBS (CRB) required and will be obtained prior to commencing, as well as full references.
  • Must be car driver with clean licence.
