Amy is now taking independent steps

Amy's story

11 year old Amy has benefited from increased independence

As a result of starting on the Move Programme...

Listening to, and understanding the individual circumstances of, our beneficiaries is a vital component of our work; allowing us to develop plans that are both personal and relevant.  For 11 year old Amy, who has an undiagnosed syndrome which means she was unable to walk on her own, the Move Programme from Enham Trust has enabled her to gain more independence than anyone thought possible.

Here, her Mum tells their story:

“Before coming to the Move Programme Amy liked to be in her own space,” comments Amy’s Mother. “And would sit and play with certain toys; she could stand when held.

Since being on the Move Programme from Enham Trust Amy is more willing to interact with people and she is constantly chatting now! She’ll now willingly sit with her sister and her friends, and will work her way round a room to find her toys.

She can now take independent steps; Move is giving my daughter the independence we never thought we would see.”
