Care at Home: Meet Martin
Care at home: Meet Martin
Listening to, and understanding the individual circumstances of, our beneficiaries is a vital component of our work; allowing us to develop plans that are both personal and relevant.
Our unique Care at Home service, delivered in Hampshire, Wiltshire, and West Berkshire, offers person-centred care to people living with disabilities or requiring care in their own homes due to long term health conditions, elderly people, or people with temporary care needs.
For Enham Trust Care at Home client Martin from Andover, who suffered damage to one of his legs due to an accident several years ago, the service has been invaluable.
Here, he shares with us his story:
“I contracted respiratory Polio in 1957. It affected me in all the usual ways but I could walk and I worked for 40 years,” comments Martin. “I’ve been retired for 10 years and in June 2014, I broke my leg.
“Now, one of my legs is shorter than the other and one of my knees has been damaged, so I can’t yet walk again.
“I couldn’t do without Enham Trust’s Care at Home service! I’m visited twice a day, every day. Someone comes in in the morning to help me with personal care and someone comes in in the evening to help me tidy and things like that.
“I have to say that the care I’ve received has been excellent all round!”
