What is Skills2Achieve?
Skills2Achieve is a unique programme of support for disadvantaged young job seekers. We’re here to help support young people aged 16-19 currently not in education, employment or training. Through our unique programmes of learning, we’ll aim to help you find work, begin apprenticeships or start full-time education.
We have local centres in Basingstoke, Farnborough, Newbury, Portsmouth and Southampton to help support young people. Our learning centres help young people to re-engage in education and gain qualifications when many other organisations wouldn’t give them a chance. Ultimately, our goal is to give youngsters the knowledge, skills and values to improve their quality of life and place them in a better position to find work.
We have up to 60 learners on our courses at any one time, with over 75% of students successfully gaining their desired qualifications and 80% finding work placements – much higher than the national average for similar programmes.
A recent OFSTED inspection raised the Skills2Achieve rating to grade 2, with elements of our courses praised for “outstanding practice”.
Small group sizes
We have small group sizes, so that you get the attention you need. We support you to get qualifications, when you’re ready for them. We also provide a listening ear if you need to share some of life’s troubles, if you need someone to talk with.
A different way of learning
Learning with Skills2Achieve is not like learning in school or college. With our smaller group sizes, we can be more flexible in the way we deliver subjects. Sometimes you’ll be part of the whole group, occasionally working independently, and at other times learning in a small group or as a pair. All of the centres have IT facilities, just as you would expect, that you will use for research, job hunting, for producing course work or for taking exams.
Join whenever you’re ready
Skills2Achieve doesn’t follow school term times. Whilst that means that you don’t get a long summer break or half term holidays, it does mean that you can join our programme whenever you are ready to; you don’t have to wait for a new term or academic year to start and if you need a break, you simply book time off with your tutor.
